How do i uncock the bolt for a rifle?

ok, i have a .22 rifle and i have removed the bolt from it and accidenty uncocked the bolt and it wont let me re-insert the bolt, how would i go about uncocking the bolt for the rifile, thanks

generally it will be a matter of twisting the forward part of the bolt so it aligns with the guides on the action, pushing it as far forward as it will go, then aligning the bolt handle with the slot that it should be in and pushing it home.

usual sensibilities apply, the weapon will be locked and cocked when the bolt is closed, so dont have ammo in the chamber…

if you had to hold a lever or depress the trigger to remove the bolt it will be the same for putting it back in…
