horizontal or vertical belt pouch / holster for the iphone?

I want to buy a belt for my iphone because I hate putting it in your pocket because all the fluff that touches it. I'm not sure whether a case for horizontal or vertical. I've never used one before and therefore dont know which is better and more comfortable. ah and what is safer? thanks!

I prefer vertical, may not be as comfortable, but tends to be more durable if you are running and exercise.
