Collect Old Barbie Dolls – Hobby and Investment

Barbie will be fifty years in 2009. I wish everything felt so good after half century! Ah, well she has had plastic surgery a lot over the years.

The first Barbie was made by Mattel in 1959 and since then millions of people have been sold worldwide. His official birthday is March 9, 1959 when it was exhibited at the Toy Fair in New York. She was wearing a black and white zebra striped one one-piece bathing suit, open toe high heels, hoop earrings and sunglasses with blue lenses white. She has blonde or brunette hair in a ponytail in the back. It has white lilies and arched brows. The plastic had a tendency to disappear and is now generally white. She has holes in his feet to be mounted on a pedestal and copper tubes in the legs. She is marked JAPAN on the bottom of his right foot. In the back is marked Barbie TM Pats. Pend. MCMVIII Law Copyright. Find one of these in good shape and has a dream of collectors who will pay a little money. The exact value depends largely on the condition and integrity. Damage or missing pieces cut his wrist severely. She is known as the # 1 Ponytail Barbie.

Ponytail Barbie # 2 is identical to # 1 with the exception there are no holes in his feet and no copper tubing. The pedestal is made with the extensions to hold her up. She is marked the same as # 1.

The # 3 Ponytail Barbie is the same as # 2 except for the blue iris and eyebrows different. This Barbie is well delineated with blue eyes or brown.

The # 4 Ponytail Barbie is made of a type of plastic that will not fade and keeps its original flesh color. She is done with blue eyeliner.

The # 5 Ponytail Barbie has a hollow plastic body rather than the solid body of previous editions. The marks are similar, but she is now marked R Pats. Pend. Rather than TM Pats. Pend. A hair color known as Titian was presented and wrists with this color hair are scarce and more valuable than the blonde or brunette. There was a problem with the plastic in some of these dolls that give them greasy. If you find an original matte face is more valuable than a "fat" doll face.

The # 6 ponytail Barbie has different vinyl does not turn into fat over time. His fingernails and lips are red pink instead of bright red before. She is dressed in a swimsuit red and red open-toed shoes.

The Barbie # 7 was presented in various colors including Ash Blonde hair, lemon Titian blonde and brunette. His fingernails and lips are orange red (coral). This change took place in the period 1962-1963 and the mark was changed to copyright 1962/Barbie Midge TM copyright 1958 by Mattel. The dolls with this new brand that is known as the Barbie # 7 usually, but some still call # 6. Dolls produced in 1962 before the change are scarce and more valuable than the new edition.

In assessing the condition collectible Barbie doll is the most important factor. A doll is complete, not damaged and clean look for a higher price. If the doll is very good in the original packaging is highly desirable to collectors and will be priced accordingly. Dolls that have been restored or painted worth less than if left in original condition disappeared.

Where can I buy Barbie dolls collection age? Well almost anywhere if you know what to look for. Most people are completely unaware of what an old Barbie doll looks like or could reach worth a little money. You can sometimes find them by searching garage sales, flea markets, and thrift or second hand stores.
