i asked about my car running rough, and it was suggested a cat, how do i test that? do cars need bck pressure?
cat converter, can i test drive it without tha tin there and the muffler gone?
well people suggested that beore, and yes its only when its hot, and it has no power going down the road, it misses when it idles (when its hot) its an 86, with 120 thou on it, grand am.
the only way to test a cat is with a gage that measures exhaust pressure….most people don’t own one…back pressure is an intricate part of how your car performs….including gas mileage and.horse power, if your car is using lots of fuel and has little or no power when hot….u may need a cat…but if everything is good except the idle quality then we doubt u need a cat…..go to any independent exhaust shop for back pressure tests…we charge 30 dollars or some cars and 20 dollars for others….depends on negative or positive feed egr valve…and if 1 or 2 probes are needed
